About Information Technology
Our City is embracing technology at a rapid pace as we pursue our goals of enhancing Riverside's stature as the economic, cultural and high tech center of the Inland Empire.
We now have a robust and secure "state-of-the-art" enterprise datacenter; internet connectivity throughout the City; a team of highly skilled professionals; and our residents, businesses, community organizations and visitors have access to a "24 Hour City Hall" with services that are among the finest offered anywhere in the U.S.
The IT Department has alligned with City Departments to transform Riverside into a High Technology City. It is almost completely wireless, has a fiber infrastructure, is a major research center, an outstanding source for high technology graduates, offers high speed internet choices, provides high tech business and employee incentives, has implemented dozens of leading edge citizen centered applications, and is a model city for high technology collaboration.
Constituent services include video security in parks, intersections, and facilities; a multi-department collaborative graffiti abatement solution that has generated over $200,000 in restitution; an advanced 311 system (one call does it all); a Reverse 911 solution to notify citizens about power outages and emergencies; an advanced Traffic Management Center to view and free up bottlenecks real-time, an easy to use map-based property system; special event permitting online; High Definition Digital Technology in City facilities for council broadcasting, activity viewing, presenting information, demonstrating solutions and training employees; and a mobile application (Riverside Resident Connect) residents can use to communicate with the City (code violations, graffiti, missing trash pickup, potholes, broken streetlights, damaged trees, etc).
In our IT strategic plan you will find information about our services, our project management and departmental alignment methodology, our standards and architectures, our major initiatives, projects we are pursuing with City departments and actions we are taking in pursuit of our City's vision for the future.
Yours truly,
Steve Reneker
